Framed Carnation ...

I can not believe where the time is going to ... it is already Sunday evening and almost time for work ... again!!!  I've had a mixed weekend ... washing, cleaning, cooking and ironing but I'm delighted to have squeezed in some 'me time' being creative (at least trying to be!).

First up this evening is a card for the current challenge at "Less is More" - it is a colour challenge ... yellow, grey and blue.

I stamped the image with pumice stone distress ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I like the effect you get when embossing an image it creates a cleaner line for water colouring.  I water coloured the image added some foam tape and popped it onto the base before adding a small sentiment.

I used:
STAMPlorations - Framed Carnation
UNIKO - Simply Said
Distress Ink Pumice Stone
Winsor and Newton Water Colours.

Three hearts ...

Another early start ... and another card to share!

It is ages since I managed to create two cards for the "Less is More" challenge ... and this card really came about through a failure ... failure to create a clean stencilled image ... too much paint leaking under the stencil!  It did leave me with a randomly coloured piece of card which I used for the heart die cuts so all was not lost!!

I used:
Clearly Besotted Pretty Petals Plus for the sentimen.
Die-namics Blueprint 29
Sizzix Nesting Hearts
Versafine Onyx Black Ink

Birthday cogs ...

This card was inspired by the new challenge at "Less is More" - it's a sketch challenge this time (see below for the sketch) ...

I die cut the cogs a number of times and adhered them together to add dimension to them before adhering them to the card base.  I stamped the smaller cogs and the sentiment.  The cogs are brown rather than the black they look in the photograph ... I really need to practise taking photographs that provide a true image!!

Return of stitching ...

I wish I had something to say that was witty and entertaining or meaningful and insightful ... but no words spring to mind that are either so I'll just share a card with you ...

The inspiration for this card comes from the new challenge at "Less is More" the theme is ... "Bring Something Back".  When I first saw the challenge I had not got a clue where to start and then I had a 'light bulb' moment ... what about hand stitching!  So that was the starting point ... out came the embroidery silk and this is the result.  I then die cut the butterfly attaching it by the body only.  The finished panel was adhered to the card base using foam tape to add some dimension.

Blue flowers ...

... another 60th birthday card ... this time the numbers are hidden, slightly more subtle than my earlier card!

The image was heat embossed with silver embossing powder before water colouring with distress inks.  I die cut the numbers out of the panel and three more times from a scrap of card and then adhered them together and placed them back into the panel.  Added the panel to the card base and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment.

I used:
STAMPlorations - Blossom Sprays #1 Dee's Artsy Impressions
Lawn Cuts - Stitched Rectangle nesting dies
Dienamics - High Rise Number dies
Distress inks - Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch
Distress Oxides - Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean
WOW Silver Embossing Powder

One Layer Stencil ...

Good Evening ... popping in to share this:

A simple design - a stencilled image and a stamped sentiment!  This is a new technique for me ... I used alcohol inks and a stencil on my gelli printing plate.  I brayered two shades of pink alcohol ink onto the plate and then added the stencil.  I removed some of the ink from the open sections of the stencil and then added some yellow Memento ink, removed the stencil and allowed this to dry.  As it was drying I masked off a rectangle on my card base.  Once dry I added a thin layer of Buff Titanium acrylic paint, placed the card base over the top and rubbed the back to transfer the image.  I un-crossed my fingers and removed the card ... and what you see is the end result.  I added a simple sentiment and that was that!!
A one layer card created with a stencil!!!

I used:
Adirondack Alcohol Inks - Cranberry and Raspberry
Memento - Dandelion Ink
Buff Titanium Acrylic Paint
UNIKO - Chrysanthemum Stencil and Simple Said Stamp Set

Love everything ...

Good evening ... I hope all is good with you!  I'm popping by to share a card for the new challenge at "Less is More" where the theme is to use dry embossing ... not a technique that I use very often.  This is the design that popped out of my head:

I embossed a piece of card and then cut it into strips of different lengths and adhered them to the card base.  Using a scrap of a print I created using acrylic paint, stencils and a gel plate I die cut the three butterflies and adhered them to the panel along the body leaving the wings raised to add dimension.  Added a sentiment and that is it!!

I used:
Die'Sire Butterfly die
Simon Says Stamp - Handwritten Borders
Stampin Up - Not Quite Navy ink

Love inspiration ...

Good evening!! I wish it was Spring ... it has been a cold a dreary weekend!

I'm stuck in a bit of a creative rut at the moment ... I spent quite a lot of yesterday trying to create a card or complete a page in my art journal with no success whatsoever!! Then when I should have given up and gone to bed an idea popped into my head from nowhere ... this is the result:

This is inspired by these challenges:

TIME OUT Challenge #102

My heart was created using a die and a scrap of a gelli print.  I die cut the musical score 4 times from card and adhered them together to make a thicker element to add dimension.  The hardest part was lining up the individual letters for the sentiment ... it always amazes me how well they stick to your fingers!

I used:
X Cut Heart Nesting Dies
Sizzix Sing Out Loud die
Lawn Fawn Milo's ABC
Stampin Up Nearly Navy Ink

Happy New Year ...

Good Afternoon!  Happy New Year to you all ... I hope you are all set for the challenges of a new year ... have you made any resolutions?  I always make resolutions - I don't know why as I seldom make it to the end of January before I've broken at least one of them!!  This year one of my resolutions is to keep my resolutions!!!!

One of my resolutions is to do something creative everyday ... so I'm off to a good start as I've spent time today creating a card.

I stamped and heat embossed the two roses before water colouring with Zig markers and then added the sentiment - it was only when I finished that I realised that I had created a one layer card!!

I used:
UNIKO - Pure Florals: Rose; Festive Sentiments; Simply Said
Versfine Onyx Black Ink
WOW Clear Embossing Powder

Lots of words ...

Good evening ... I'm still on the hunt for the elusive ideal Christmas card ... this is today's contribution:

I like a card that is all about the words!!  I first stamped and heat embossed with clear embossing powder the red 'Happy Christmas' then stamped the rest of the words with distress inks.  I trimmed the panel, added a fishtail and then adhered it to the card base with foam tape for added dimension.  This might just be the design I use for the balance of my cards as it is relatively simple to create.

I used:
UNIKO - Festive Sentiments, Pure Florals: Poinsettia
Distress Inks - Festive Berries, Pine Needles and Peeled Paint

Foiled snowflakes ...

Good evening ... just popping in to share a card ... I'm still on the hunt for a design that is effective but easy to replicate ... I quite like this one but it takes too much time to make multiples of but I might be able to adapt the design using a different technique!

This is full of very shiny snowflakes but, as always, impossible to show in a photograph - you will just have to trust me.  I die cut all of the snowflakes from a sheet of double sided tape and adhered them to a piece of card.  I removed the tape backing and then applied a selection of different coloured foils to the images.  I added the die cut sentiment and adhered the panel to the card base with foam tape for dimension and interest.  I think the design might work with stamped snowflakes and heat embossing which would be quicker than foiling the images.

I'm going to enter the following challenges:
