Giraffe ...

Another wet and windy Saturday! More time for crafting ... I would like to get started on the garden but it is just too wet ... so indoor activities have been the order of the day.

To start with I'd like to share a card ... one that might be considered cute ... not a style that is usually associated with me but made as a special request for my daughter to give to celebrate a young man's first birthday!!

I used:
Hot of the Press Small Stamps: Giraffe
UNIKO: Simply Said
Clearly Besotted: Make A Wish Dies
Distress Inks: Festive Berries, Rusty Hinge and Spiced Marmalade

I'm going to join in with the current challenge at AAA Birthday Card Challenge

The first project of the day was to complete refurbishing a footstool from this:

Up-cycling or revamping small pieces of furniture is my latest obsession!  I'm building up to reupholstering a chair of my mum's that needs some *tlc but I thought I'd better start small!

Enjoy!

Mixed media fun ...

This project is all about having fun ... I've been working on it for quite some time and I'm not sure where it is going or how much more I need to do.  It combines lots of bits and pieces ... drypoint etched prints that didn't work as a finished piece, some linocut prints that weren't perfect so I cut them up, old stamps, old book and music pages, gel prints. stamped images and lots and lots of sewing!  It is three inches tall by a yard wide (8cms by 92cms).  It's a difficult beast to photograph but hopefully these will give you a feel for it:

Enjoy!

Die cut stencil ...

The good thing about wet and windy weather is that I have all the excuse I need to stay inside and craft!!  This is the second weekend that the UK has been battered by stormy weather ... it is starting to brighten up so hopefully the storm has passed!

Today's project is inspired by the challenge at CAS Mix Up where they want you to use a stencil made from a die.

I created a stencil using one of the Tim Holtz Wildflower dies.  I used my small gel plate to create the panel layering a number of stencilled layers using a selection of purple acrylic paints ... I let each layer dry on the plate before lifting the final print with buff titanium.  I love the texture you can achieve when using this technique.

I used:
Sizzix Tim Holtz Widflowers
Gelli Arts Gel Press Plate
PaperArtsy paints - Amethyst, Bougainvillea
Ranger Dina Wakely Acrylic Paint - Eggplant
Daler Rowney - Buff Titanium
Visible Image - Go to Words

Shining Star ...

As the weeks start to whizz by we've made it to February ... I was worried that time would drag once I no longer went out to work but it seems not to be the case ... strangely enough time passes just as quickly!!!

Today has turned out to be overcast and dreary ... it would be so lovely to see more blue sky and sunshine ... at least it is too wet to garden!  So an afternoon of crafting has been the order of the day - this card is for a special young lady:-

I used:
Sizzix Stars
Creative Expressions Stitched Wreath Collection
Creative Expressions Star Wreath
Clearly Besotted Superstar Stamp set
WOW Silver Embossing Powder
