Less is More ... Favourite Technique

Good Morning! It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of May and it is time for a new challenge at Less is More - it is time for our Lucky Dip challenge and this time we would like to see you use your favourite technique.

So get your thinking caps on - what is you go to technique? Die cutting, stamping, heat embossing, stencilling - the list is endless.  My favourite technique (at the moment!) is water colouring.  I have two cards to share both using the same stamp - to me they show the versatility of water colouring as they both use the same two distress inks but they look very different.  The variation is created by varying the amount of water used to blend the ink.

This one has a soft and gentle appearance whereas the second card is far more vibrant.

This time, more than ever, I am looking forward to finding out what your favourite technique is - I'm always looking for new ideas and inspiration from my fellow bloggers.  Remember to check out the Less is More blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have created.

Keep well!

UNIKO ... Guest Designer!

Welcome to this exciting post - I am guest designer for the new UNIKO challenge and I can't tell you how delighted I am.  I love UNIKO stamps - Bev's designs are just beautiful especially her Pure Florals range that simply capture the beauty of flowers.  I was lucky enough to be chosen as a winner earlier this year and part of the prize was to guest design for a challenge - so here I am to inspire and encourage you to join in with the new challenge:

I stamped the peony on a book page before water colouring with distress inks.  I fussy cut the image and adhered it to a die cut circle before adhering it to the card base with foam tape to add dimension.  I finished by stamping the sentiment.

I used:
UNIKO Pure Florals: Peony
             Simply Said Stamp set
Distress Inks - Picked Raspberry and Peeled Paint.
Dienamics Stitched Circles.

I hope that you can find the time to join in with the challenge - you just might win!

This is the card that I won the challenge with:

Background Butterflies ...

I love it when a stamp set has so many elements in it that you have lots of options to create cards, this new stamp set from Visible Image  BUTTERFLY EFFECT is just one of the stamp sets that has background stamps as well as focal stamps and words.

I stamped and heat embossed all of the elements.

I water coloured the elements before fussy cutting the individual butterflies:

The final task was to position and adhere the elements into place with foam adhesive to add dimension.

Pink Blooms ...

I'm popping in this evening to share another creation made with one of the new stamp sets from Visible Image ... this time I'm featuring the Where the Flowers Bloom.

The card was created using only stamps from this set, it has background stamps, focal images and words - the ideal combination.

I stamped and heat embossed all the images

I coloured the stamping with distress ink and then fussy cut the flower

I stamped the cotton thread stamp and added the flower with foam adhesive along with the sentiment

Butterfly Effect ...

Friday afternoon and the sun is shining (at the moment, rain is expected later!!) and it is time for my weekly Visible Image project.  Today I have the honour of sharing with you a project created with a new stamp set that was launched today and is available for pre-order - Butterfly Effect is its name and you can get all the details here.  It is the very first time that I have used a stamp set before it has been available and I am childishly excited about it!

The stamp set is really lovely because as well as a beautiful large butterfly there are background stamps and lovely words and not forgetting there is a teeny butterfly too!  I love it when one stamp set provides all the elements to create a card.  So less chat and here is the card:

How I created it:

I stamped and heat embossed the butterfly - more than once for audition purposes!

I water coloured the butterfly with distress ink and then fussy cut it

I also stamped and heat embossed the background circles before water colouring them with a complementary colour

STAMPlorations ... May Challenge

A new month means new challenges over at STAMPlorations, this month's Theme and Photo challenge is:

I hope to inspire you to join in with the challenge with this mixed media tag:

I cut the tag from a gelli print that had been created with acrylic paints, stencils and mark making junk!  I added some additional stamping and some texture paste through a stencil before stitching the border with my sewing machine.  The smaller tag was cut from a piece of card and then coloured with distress inks and stamping.  I die cut the bird a number of times before adhering them together to create more dimension.  The tag was then assembled and leather cord added.

I used:
                                Art Marks stamp set
                             Luggage Tags Nesting Dies
                                For the Birds Dies
                               Trendy Birds 2
                               Stitchings Stencil

Less is More ... Sea Creatures

Wow, May already!  I hope you are all keeping well and ready for the new Less is More Challenge - it is time for a Theme challenge:

I can not wait to pay a visit to the seaside - I love a day at the seaside!  How about you?

My project to inspire you:

I began by stamping the whales onto a gelli print before fussy cutting them.  I stamped the 'happy birthday' sentiment to (hopefully) resemble waves!  I attached the whales with some foam adhesive to add dimesion.

I used:
Funky Fossil - Whale of a Time stamp set
UNIKO - Simply Said
Distress Oxide - Blue Print Sketch

I look forward to seeing your creations.
