One Stamp set, two cards, two styles ...

Good afternoon!  I have a couple of cards to share with you all - inspired by two challenges.

First up is a one layer water coloured birthday card:

I stamped and heat embossed the butterflies which wrap onto the back of the card and then water coloured the images with distress inks.  The sentiment was also stamped and heat embossed.

Second up is the encouragement card - far more layers and techniques than the first.  I set out to make a mixed media card not necessarily in my usual style but the more I look at it the more it still appears clean and simple!!  I guess the biggest difference is the combination of more than one technique and the 'dreaded' splatters!!

I cut the panel to fit on the top of the card base before die cutting the middle with a mixed media die.  Behind the opening I have placed a panel of gelli printed card.  Then used some black texture paste to create the line of 'stitching', die cut the circle and stamped the butterfly before stamping and water colouring it.  I finished by stamping and layering the sentiment before adhering all the elements together.

The two challenges that inspired me are:

Twofer Card Challenge #36 - my choice was butterflies

Have a great weekend!

  1. These are both beautiful, Elaine! For TCC, the only thing that needs to be different is the underlying sketch layout and you rocked that - then you went on to make them both gorgeous! I love the movement and color and winking of your OLC with the butterfly along the side of your first design and how you changed it up for the second design and then added layers and interest in a mixed media - yet CAS - style! Thank you for playing in TCC #36! I hope you are keeping well! Hugs, Darnell

  2. wow Elaine your card for Time Out is stunning. I love it still looks so CAS but you have used so many techniques-so hard to do but you have made it look effortless! Adore that blue shine from the background and then the paste for the black-just so much depth and texture all in one card. Thanks for joining us at Time Out c

  4. Your beautiful blue butterflies look like they could fly right off your cards, Elaine, and all of them are watercolored wonderfully! I love how you've got the trio dancing up the side of your birthday card, and then you've used just one to highlight the layers and textures of your encouragement card. These are fabulous. Thank you for joining us at The Twofer Challenge. Stay safe. Bev

  7. Love how you say 'dreaded' splatters because thats how I feel about them!! They look amazing on cards but I don't like the lack of control with them and I get them EVERYWHERE!!! I think both of your cards are fantastic. Love the CAS design of the first card, colours are gorgeous. Your second card is superb, has so much interest and texture. And your right, its still CAS. So very happy you shared these with us at TIME OUT!
