More Paper Piecing ...

This is tonight's creation to add to my stock of cards for all occasions.

The design is based on the sketch for this week's challenge on "Less is More"  - hopefully it meets the criteria.
Paper Piecing ....
This weekend I decided to try out a new to me technique - paper piecing!  Here it is

Unfortunately my red ink pad is not really dark enough for the sentiment - I have two choices buy another ink pad to match the red card or buy some red card to match the ink!!

Another monster card .....

This is another card using a cross stitched image.  This time I have limited the background paper and created more white space.  I have cross stitched quite a few of these monsters they are so quick and fun to make.  So this is just a variation on a theme!

It also fits the criteria for the "Less is More" challenge for this week - so I might just upload this to the site as well.  Just realised this also meets the criteria for clean&simple challenge 258 - so I might just up load it there as well.

Birthday Smiles ....
I'm an avid cross stitcher as well as card maker and I love to combine the two crafts whenever I can.  I thought this card might just fit the criteria for this week's challenge on the retro sketches blog.  They put up a sketch each week and invite people to join in with the challenge.

I think I might enter this to the challenge on "Less is More" as the criteria for their challenge is 'felt or fabric'
New Home .....
I decided to have another go at entering a blog competition this time over on "Less is More" - I love this blog it is all about the kind of cards that I love to make.  I have found loads of inspiration and ideas from other bloggers that enter the competitions.  Each week they have a new theme - this time it is simply  "Felt or Fabric".

This is the card that I am going to up load - I hope it fits the criteria.  I've used oddments of fabric and combined it with my love of patchwork by using a classic hexagon die.

I also wanted to see if I could stamp onto fabric - it worked and I'm pleased with the look. I thought that the ink might bleed but you can see from the close up that it pretty much stayed in place.

The card is for my daughter as she moved out of the family home this weekend - I just  hope that she's too busy to check her mum's blog!

A card for my niece ......

Over the last couple of months I've been wandering around the blogging world seeing all of the beautiful cards being created by very talented people.  I can only hope to develop my skills to match the beautiful designs that I have seen. I've found many card designers by first seeing their work on one of the blogs that organise weekly competitions (and there are quite a few!). It's a very brave thing to put your work out there for others to see and comment on - I wasn't sure that I was that brave!!  But I've decided to have a go,  I hope that if I receive any comments they may help me to develop my skills.  So here goes....

This weeks challenge at clean&simple is based on this sketch:

This is the card I made based on this sketch:

For my great niece's birthday

And a close up of the detail:

Now all that's left to do is upload it to clean&simple!

Birthday card for my daughter.....

Another card combining some stamping with a simple clean layout plus a few buttons to add a little depth.

(This photo was taken on my 'phone as my camera is still missing!! For some reason it has left the photo with a pink haze in the middle - the real card is white!)

Santa Claus.....
I'm without a camera at the moment, so keeping my blog up-to-date is proving to be quite a challenge.  I'm not into writing lots!

I decided to see if the camera on my 'phone would be good enough ...... so here goes ...

I've used a stamp that I've owned for a lifetime but never used ... I should say that most of the stamps I own are still in pristine condition.  I've not really mastered the art of stamping but I am determined to keep trying.  I think I'm getting better (?).

Textile Treat ...
It's back to work this week for me, after the summer break,  so the time available for crafting is going to be less.  However, today I have completed a Christmas tree made from textile yoyos (also known as Suffolk Puffs)

It's about 23cm high and is designed to form a centre piece for the Christmas table or could stand nicely on a mantel piece.
