My parents are quite divided when it comes to black and white cards - my mum loves them but my dad can see nothing nice about them. As you will know the last Christmas cards I made were white on white - so I thought why not just introduce one more colour and see what happens. My idea also happens to fit the challenge over at the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown blog - where the challenge is to make a Christmas card without using green and red. So here is my challenge entry.
The black on this card actually has a silver speckled coating
It's easier to see the silver speckles on this photograph.
I also tried the same layout but using a matt black card for the layering - the jury is still out in my house as to which is preferred. I'll leave it up to blog readers to decide. Here is the second card with the matt black card.
I think your Dad is wrong!!! I love the postage stamp style - such fun. Both are super. I think I prefer the matte black card. Great cards. Thanks so much for playing along with 52CCT this week!!
The black and white were a fabulous choice!!! This is SO elegant--love the postage stamp bits, too! Thanks for joining in our NO RED OR GREEN challenge at 52CCT! :) Mynn xx
Thanks for your comments. The matte black is definitely my favourite, I made some black and white Christmas cards a couple of years ago and thought they were a nice change.
I LOVE black and white cards and I LOVE your black and white Christmas cards - they are so classy and elegant and the postage stamp shapes add a touch of fun too! I usually favour a touch of seasonal sparkle on Christmas cards but I'm surprised to find I actually prefer the matte black option! Thanks so much for sharing your fab cards with us at 52 {C}CT! The sparkly black is my favourite, but both cards are fab! I love black and white, and these 'postage stamp' designs are brilliant- very festive if you ask me! Thanks for joining in with our challenge at 52 CCt
What a fabulous design - love the postage stamp look! I had to look and re-look at the cards to say which I liked the best - not easy to decide, but I think the black mat is my favorite. thanks so much for joining us this week at 52CCT!
