Double stars ...

No Christmas cards today ... today I thought I would take my inspiration from the new Twofer Card Challenge ... the theme for this month is to feature Stars ... now normally you have to create two cards for two different events but using the same resources ... so this is what I did.  I just wish that I had read the rules more carefully ... this month you can make two cards for one occasion - Christmas!!  The moral of the story is never assume you know - read the rules each and every time!

First up I went for a New Year card:

I used the current sketch from CASE(E) this Sketch! (details at the end of this post).  I started by masking the central panel before adding texture paste through a stencil, once dry I stamped a number of small outline stars to echo the design.  The numbers were die cut from a piece of card coloured using acrylic paints, stencils and a gelli plate.

The second card is a general card:

For this one I started with the current sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches (details at the end of this post).  I took the same stencil used in the first card but this time ink blended through it and the outlined the stars with a fine marker to lift them from the background.  The star is die cut from another piece of card created on a gelli plate.

  1. Both of your designs are so CAS and awesome Elaine! You definitely made that star stencil work for both cards and I'm really loving the numbers on the New Years card and the large star on your general card where you used cardstock colored from a gelli plate...beautiful!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Twofer Challenge!! :0)

  2. Your cards are shining like stars. I love the subtleness of the embossed stars for your new years card. So clever. Your general uplifting card is sure to do the job with that sunny yellow. Thanks for playing along with us at Twofer Card Challenge #33.

  4. Your take on both sketches is excellent, Elaine! I am going to copy and print the photo of your gorgeous Happy New Year starry design! OMG, how we all look forward to seeing the beginning of 2021 and the end of 2020! And your encouragement card is CASlicious and delightful in bright yellows and gold! I like the way you outlined the stenciled stars! Thank you so much for playing in TCC #33! Keep well! Hugs, Darnell

  5. Well done combining the sketches and Twofer Challenge. That sounds like a fun challenge, I may need to look into it bit more. Note to self: Read everything! I love how you flipped our (CC&S) Sketch Challenge. I think you did a great job representing a bright and cheerful New Year (Which we are all hoping for). Thanks for joining us this week at CC&S
